Painful hip arthroplasty

There are rare cases of patients with painful hip arthroplasty where it is impossible to determine the precise cause of the pain. It is known that the early loosening or low intensity infection (low grade infection) is sometimes difficult to diagnose, even with bone scintigraphy.

Arthroscopic image surface hip arthroplasty.

During hip arthroscopy loosening of the arthroplasty components may be observed under direct vision, and material for biopsy or histology can be obtained.  Removal of foreign bodies or debris from the area between the arthroplasty components of the hip have been reported in the literature.
