Septic arthritis

Septic arthritis is infectious inflammation of the hip joint and an emergency situation, as it requires flushing and cleaning of the joint to prevent the destruction of the articular surfaces by enzymes and microorganisms.

The classical treatment of this condition is the open surgical method, with wide opening and dislocation of the hip. Treatment can now be done arthroscopically as effectively as in cases of septic arthritis of the knee, and there is the possibility to obtain fluid or tissue for further microbiological or histological examinations.
