INTRA-ARTICULAR INJECTION OF HYALURONIC ACID IN HIP OSTEOARTHRITIS

Aim of the study: to assess the medium-term results of hyaluronic acid injection into the hip joint for the treatment of osteoarthritis.
Material and method: the study included 10 patients with osteoarthritis of varying degree, who received a fluoroscopically guided injection of hyaluronic acid under general anaesthesia.
Results: the patients were assessed at 6 weeks and 6 months and the outcome was evaluated with the Nonarthritic and modified Harris scores. A reduction in pain and an improvement in mobility were found, and the results were better in patients with milder osteoarthritis.
Conclusions: intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid in hip osteoarthritis is a minimally invasive treatment that improves symptoms and can therefore delay the need for more major surgical procedures.
