Intertrochanteric femoral fractures (fractures of the hip joint) are unfortunately common in elderly patients. Prompt treatment, particularly within the first 36 hours, is considered the ideal management for the patient's survival.
One of the modern methods of treatment is fixation of the fracture with an intramedullary gamma nail, which achieves rapid stabilisation through very small incisions and allows immediate, rapid mobilisation of the patient from the first postoperative day.
