Synovial osteochondromatosis of the hip is a benign, monoarticular condition which nevertheless fills the joint with multiple osteochondral bodies. This may in the long term lead to degeneration of the hip.
The treatment of choice is arthroscopic removal of the loose bodies and debridement of the joint. This patient underwent arthroscopic debridement, with immediate improvement in her symptoms; she was mobilised straight away and left the clinic the same day.
