Total hip replacement

A total hip replacement is a classic and very successful surgery to treat arthritis in hip joint. In this technique, the surface of the acetabulum along with the femoral head are removed and replaced with artificial metal components.

Hip replacement surgery bilaterally (on both sides) in a patient with osteoarthritis.

Today there is a great variety of materials and techniques. The selection is made according to the surgeon's experience and the patient characteristics. The literature has shown excellent results even in studies with 30-year survival rate.
